Study on DBR Er~(3+)-doped Fiber Laser of High Stability

One DBR Er3+doped fiber laser of high output power and high wavelength stability was developed. Its gain medium was 2.75m long Er3+doped fiber of high erbium concentration. When it was pumped by 980nm laserdiode, the output spectral bandwidth was measured as 0.2nm by 3dB and 0.4nm by 25dB at 1552.2nm. The max. output power was measured as 25mW. Its power stability was ±0.01dB, side mode suppression ratio was 60dB, and the stability of output wavelength was 0.01dB(Confined by the precision of OPM). The laser had a threshold of 8.6mW and a slope efficiency of 21.7%.
