Study on the Noise Characteristics of Er-Yb Co-doped Phosphate Glass Waveguide Amplifier

Noise figure of the Er and Yb codoped phosphate glass waveguide amplifier is calculated theoretically using the rate and power propagation equations for Er and Yb codoped system operationg at 980nm wavelength. The effects of Er concentration, pump light power, amplifier length and input signal light power on noise figure is discussed.
