Study on the Coupling Development of Regional Traffic System and Urban System——A Case Study of Chaozhou City,Guangdong Province

This paper established a comprehensive index system to assess coordinating development of transport and urban systems. A coupling coordination model is applied to explore the coordination development state between the two systems from 2006 to 2015 in Chaozhou City, a fast urban development city in Guangdong Province. The results showed that the development level of transport system and urban system have been increased greatly and their distance has been smaller in the past 10 years., urban transport has been an advanced model. The coupling coordination degree increased from 0.15 to 0.63, which indicated that the coordination state became better since 2006. Based on the coupling coordination degree, the coordination state can be divided into three periods. The first period was moderate disorder from2006 to 2007 and coupling coordination degree was lower than 0.30. The transport system was better than urban development in this period. The second period was on the verge of disorder from 2008 to 2010 and coupling coordination degree was between 0.30 and 0.50. The transport system was still better than urban development while urban development was fast than that of transport system. The third period was primary coordination from 2011 to 2015 and coupling coordination degree was between 0.50 and 0.70. The urban system was better than that of transport development. Based on the coordination state change trend, some advices are put forwarded to promote coordination development between transport and urban system. First, it's necessary to develop transport system to meet the demands of urban system by building integrated traffic system with roads, railways and harbor. To optimize roads system and to improve management level are the first two ways to develop transport level. At the same time, it's important to redistribute urban areas, optimize industry structure and improve average GDP level by the guidance effect of transport corridor to promote coordination development between transport and urban system.
