Comparative Analysis of Marine Economic and Industrial Comprehensive Strength between China and other Countries in the World

21st century is the ocean age. Coastal countries all attach importance to the exploitation of marine resources and pay close attention to the development of marine economy. This paper selects China, the United States, Canada,Britain, France, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam as subjects based on the condition that data are available on marine GDP, composition of marine industries and marine product output. We study and analyze all these countries' place in the world in terms of the total output value(added value) of marine economy, the endowment of marine resources and the output of marine products. In this paper, coefficient of variation is used to reflect the differentiation of marine economy in these chosen countries. Concentration index(Gene coefficient) is used to analyze the degree of marine industrial agglomeration in these countries, and abundance index is used to indicate the endowment of marine natural resources of each country. Principal component analysis is applied to analyze marine economic and industrial comprehensive strength of each country. It's safe to conclude based on the analysis that China is indeed a marine economic power. Not only is she at the forefront of marine economic comprehensive strength, but also her marine GDP ranks first among all these countries. The advantages and characteristics of the chosen countries' marine economy and industries are compared in this paper, so it is intend to provide reference for the construction of the maritime Silk Road Economic Belt, and also provide a basis for China to speed up the construction of marine economic power.
