INT-Dehydrogenase Activity in Seasonal Constructed Wetlands Biomembrane

Two-stage inverse vertical subsurface constructed wetland wastewater treatment systems may solve the short-cut flow problem and minimize the effect on environment.The paper investigated biofi lm INT-dehydrogenase activity(DHA) in seasonal running constructed wetlands biomembrane at extreme cold region.The results showed that the temperature had strong effect on INT-DHA,which increased with running time from the system startup of April to June,kept relatively high and stable DHA during July,August and September,and decreased sharply in October due to lower temperature.The variation of DHA along flow direction in the fi rst wetland showed that nutrients level affected INT-DHA,higher nutrients corresponded to higher DHA.Under the experimental conditions,the effect of hydraulic loading on DHA could be ignored.
