On Lexical Gap in Translation Between English and Chinese and Its Resolution

Lexical gap is a common phenomenon in translation between English and Chinese. The paper analyzes this phenomenon from three aspects:different lifestyles, belief in different religions and different cultural connotation. Four efficient translating strategies are put forward: transliteration, literal translation, free translation, and flexible translation.
