Effects of New Rural Pension on Agricultural Labor Supply of the Middle and Elder Aged

As the aging problem in labor supply becomes increasingly serious in China,the burden of family pension is getting heavier.New Rural Pension,as a widespread pension system,has aroused more and more attention.This paper selectedthe influence of New Rural Pension on the labor supply in the middle-aged and the elderly as the starting point of the research.China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Survey( CHARLS) data and the ridge regression model were used to analyze the problem and age,health status,marital status,land,etc.were selected as control variables for the empirical research.The main conclusion shows that people involved in New Rural Pension significantly reduce their participation in agricultural activities,indicating that the introduction of New Rural Pension has played a certain role in improving the welfare of the rural population.
