A Derivation of Mathematical Formula for Transmittance of Transparent Honeycomb Structure for a Solar Collector

Solar transmittance in the transparent honeycomb structure is an important parameter to the performance of the flat plate solar collector.By considering the case when the incident light is perpendicular to the collector surface,the complicated light transmitting process in the honeycomb structure can be simplified as a two-dimensional light reflection process.A mathematical formula for the transmittance of transparent honeycomb structure is derived based on the principle of geometric optics,which provides a simple and effective way to calculate the transmittance of the honeycomb structure.
