An Empirical Analysis of the Network Site and Influence of Opinion Leaders in the Virtual Teachers' Community

As a core member of the virtual teacher community,opinion leader in the virtual teacher community plays an active role in the knowledge construction and information dissemination. In order to explore the network site and influence of opinion leaders in the virtual teacher community,this paper applies the social network analysis to analyze the online discussion data of the learners in the virtual teacher community. The findings of the study are as follows:( 1) opinion leaders in the virtual teacher community are mainly acted by ordinary learners,appearing to be occasional opinion leaders and stable opinion leaders;( 2) there are remarkable differences between the network site of opinion leader and that of ordinary learners,in the late period of the course implementation,the opinion leaders do not hold the advantage of network site,the lack of opinion leaders seriously affects the information spreading;( 3) compared with occasional opinion leaders and ordinary learners,stable opinion leaders have a greater influence on others,and lead the learners in the virtual teacher community to participate in everlasting and in-depth discussions.
