Numerical analysis on overturning resistant property of seismic isolated building subject to bi-directional earthquake excitation

To study the overturning resistant property of seismic isolated building with laminated rubber bearing,the dynamic analysis model for time domain response of overturning moment is established which is subjected to bi-directional earthquake excitation.Based on a simplified model,the effect of the factors including height-to-width ratio and the fundamental period of isolated building on the ratio of anti-overturning moment to overturning moment is analyzed by using structure design response spectrum.The effect of seismic intensity and site soil type on anti-overturning safety factor of seismic isolated multi-story buildings and small high-rise buildings is analyzed under bi-directional earthquake excitation.Taken the seismic wave of Longnan from"5.12"Wenchuan earthquake as input signal,the overturning moment responses of several real isolated buildings are analyzed.The numerical analysis result indicates that height-to-width ratio has stronger effect on the anti-overturning property than the fundamental period,andvertical earthquake excitation always has negative effect on the anti-overturning property of isolated structures.The seismic fortification intensity and the site soil type should be considered to determine the limit value of height-to-width ratio.
