Parameter design on elastic wheels of light rail vehicle based on static strength analysis

Compared with the traditional rigid wheels,the structure of the elastic wheels is more complex and there are also more factors that affects the strength and life. A finite element model is built for an elastic wheel by CAD / CAE simulation software. Based on the standard EN 13979-1: 2003,Abaqus is used to analyze the effect of rubber pre-compression,shrink range of wheel and shaft and quantity of lightening holes on the static strength of the elastic wheel under the linear condition. Compared with the static strength stress results under different schemes,a reasonable set of design parameters is given. The static strength check results indicate that the elastic wheel meets the standard in the linear,curve and turnout conditions.
