To study the effect of skin-stiffener interface strength on loading capacity of stiffened composite flat panels, the initiation and propagation of skin-stiffener interface damage is analyzed by the cohesive zone model which is based on contact property definition, and the failure of composite laminated panel is analyzed by the progressive damage model which is based on 2D Hashin criterion. The simulation results are in good consistent with the test results, and so the cohesive zone model which is based on contact property definition is practical to be applied in the stiffener debonding analysis of whole stiffened composite flat panels. The calculation results show that the higher strength of skin-stiffener interface is required to develop the potential loading capacity of stiffened composite panels.
