The Compilation of Local Chronicles along the Shandong Section of the Grand Canal since the Ming Dynasty

The local chronicles along the Grand Canal in Shandong,relatively large in number,preserve many documents related to the canal. On the whole,these chronicles' compilation gradually accelerated since the Ming Dynasty and reached a high in the Qing Dynasty. Then distinct features of the transition period of the Republic of China are visible in those compiled in that period. This article helps to better understand and use these chronicles and contributes to the study of the history and culture of the Grand Canal.
