Reversibility of Serial Production Lines

Based on linear state-equations over max-algebra of DEDS, the reversibility of serial production line has been studied by using the linear state-equations. Then by using the state-equations, it is proved that under determined and stochastic condition, the mean production rate is unchangeable when the order of processors or the order of job processing being reversed. Moreover, it is shown that the mean production rate of the serial production line is irrelative to the order of the job processing when the processing time of all jobs in each machine is i.i.d, or the processing time of each job in all machines is i.i.d.
