Third-order Cumulants Using in Voice Activity Detection

LIN Xue-mei(College of Information Science and Technology,Hunan Agricultural University,Changsha 410128,China)
Third-order cumulants of speech signals are not identically zero,so it could be used to detect the start point and end point of the voice under very noisy environments. The proposed method uses the maximum singular value of an cumulant matrix to distinguish between voiced parts of the speech signal and noise.Adaptive implementation is introduced, and the simulation results show that the proposed method reduced the error-ratio of the traditional algorithm.
