A Measuring Method for Rotational Speed Based on Video Processing Technique

A new measuring method for rotational speed based on video processing technique is proposed in this paper,to eliminate the impact of strong vibration and electromagnetic interference on accuracy in traditional electro-mechanical method.It utilized personal computer and USB camera,and transformed the video of rotational objects into continuous static images by means of VFW software package.Then the average rotational speed could be obtained by means of Hough transform to cumulate the angles of two adjacent frames.This method has good characters,such as antijamming ability,high performance-price ratio,simple system structure and easily multi-channel integration.The basic principles and key technologies of the suggested method were described in detail.Experimental simulation system was set up and example proved feasibility of the project.
