The Microstructure and Formation Mechanism of the Acicular Carbide in High Alloy Steels

In this paper,the microstructure and the formation mechanismof the acicular carbide in high alloy steel have been studied.The typical pa-tterns of the carbide are discribed.It is proved that the carbide is(Fe,M)(?)with a little alloy elements,the matrix is retained austenite and the orien-tation relationship between the carbide and its matrix obeys pistch one.Thisacicular carbide can nuclei either at grain boundary or inside of retained aus-tenite.With TEM,it is discovered that the carbide cnosists of"small step".The authors suppose that the growth of the carbide depends on the forming of"small step"continuously.
