Application of plasma cladding technology on guide roller

In order to improve wear-resistance and crack-resistance of guide roller in rolling mill,plasma cladding technology was employed to obtain Al2O3 doped Fe-Ni based high temperature wear-resistant coating on 45 steel.Microstructure of the alloy coating was studied by scanning electric microscope(SEM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD) instrument.Practice trial was made on the base of lab study.The results show that the microstructure of the coating is fine and uniform.The phases of the coating are γ-(Fe,Ni),(Cr,Fe)7C3 and a few intermetallic FeAl,Fe0.23Ni0.77Al and Ni3Al.The service life of the plasma alloying roller rises notably and its comprehensive performance evaluation increases by 11 times compared with common high chromium cast steel roller.
