Lanthanum zirconate thermal barrier coating prepared by atmospheric plasma spray

La1.6Nd0.4Ce1.0Zr1.0O7(LNCZ)thermal barrier coating on Ni-based superalloy was prepared by atmospheric plasma spray with self-developed LNCZ thermal spray powder.Effect of process parameters on the deposition ratio,microstructure,bonding strength and thermal-shock resistance of LNCZ coatings was studied.The results show that increasing the power or decreasing the feed rate is useful to improve the deposition ratio,but deteriorates the coating′s bonding strength and thermal-shock resistance.The deposition ratio increases significantly as decreasing the spray distance.Also,the typical lamellar microstructure with appropriate porosity fraction can be obtained by low spray distance.And the microstructure is good for thermal-shock resistance.The optimum process parameters of LNCZ thermal barrier coating prepared by using DH-1080 equipment are that the power is 40 kW,the spray distance is 9 cm and the feed rate is 12 g/min.
