Improved quenching clamp structure and mount method with numerical simulation calculation for reducing quenching distortion

Process method of reducing quenching distortion of thin-wall parts was pointed out on the theory of fluid mechanics by adopting numerical simulation in quenching cooling process and using advantage of FLUENT and ANSYS software.The results show that structure of clamps is improved,the distribution of guide hole in the clamps is designed corresponding to the position of workpiece,and a new big hole in the clamps is added at the central position of placing workpiece.These methods are increasing convection heat transfer efficiency at the lower part of the shell.The distortion of outside surface is decreased by 24.4%.The other process measure is hinging workpiece in the quenching oil.The difference of temperature between inside and outside shell is greatly decreased.The distortion of outside surface is decreased by 33.4%.The process measure of improving the structure of clamps is more in accordance with production practice.
