Objective: To explore the relationship between efficacy of clozapine and its side effects. Method: PANSS, TESS and serum clozapine level were evaluated in 66 schizophrenics taking clozapine alone. Results: There was a negative correlation between anti-serotonin factor score of TESS at 28th day and cliical improvement (r =-0.3095, P0.05), improvement rate was higher within the therapeutic window of anti-serotonin factor score (1- 4) than outside the window (x2 = 6.862, P0.01), and no signficant correlation was found between clinical improvement and serum clozapine level (r - 0.1787, P 0.05). Conclusion: The efficacy of clozapine was correlated to therapeutic window of anti-serotonin factor score in TESS.
