Comparison of image fusion algorithms for high spatial resolution satellite image of GF-1

The GF-1satellite is the starting satellite of the major projects in our country belonging to high resolution earth observation system.It is developed by Aerospace Dongfanghong Satellite Ltd.of China Space Technology Academy affiliated China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and the designed life is 5~8years.To grasp and understand the fusion quality of GF-1is very important for the applications of the satellite image data and the development of subsequent star.The paper has taken advantage of four different fusion algorithms:Brovey,HSV,PCA,and Gram-Schmidt to fuse the image and compare the results from both qualitative and quantitative evaluation.The results show that Brovey fusion preserves the multispectral spectral resolution,but the detailed spatial information is lower;HSV fusion result is in the middle position;PCA fusion keeps the spectrum best,but a large amount of information has been lost;Gram-Schmidt fusion has the optimal indicators,not only maintaining the original spectral characteristics,but also making less information distortion,which the fusion result is ideal.
