Numerical simulation study of drag reduction of cavitation flow around underwater bluff body

The flow around underwater bluff body is simulated based on the homogeneous equilibrium theory using Fluent 6.3.Change laws of bluff body's cavity shape and drag reduction characteristics of bluff body are studied in this paper.Results show that water flow will develop into cavitation flow around a bluff body when cavitation number is smaller,and dimensionless diameter and dimensionless length of cavity will increase with decreasing of cavitation number. When pressure drag coefficients decrease,frictional drag coefficient will decrease and go to zero.And total resistance coefficient is lower than water flow around,almost equal to pressure drag coefficient.
