Effect on Yield of Irrigation or not of the Summer Sowing Cotton in Central Hubei

Using split plot design method in the slant drought year of summer sowing cotton growing period,the comparative experiment of 21 summer sowing cotton varieties( lines) under the condition of natural non- irrigation and reasonable irrigation were carried out. The results showed that the average boll number per plant,single boll weight,lint percent,seed cotton yield and lint yield of 21 mateirals in reasonable irrigation compared with non- irrigation increased by 3. 3,0. 47 gram,2. 68%,111. 38% and 126. 94% respectively. Meanwhile,compared with CRI50,11 varieties increased production under natural non- irrigation,5 varieties increased production under reasonable irrigation,9 varieties decreased production under the two processing. The results suggested that the production performance of 14 varieties showed similar consistent trend,6 varieties showed the strong drought resistant ability.
