Synthesis and Dispersivity of Sodium Polyacrylate as Disperser

Polyarylic acid with low molecular weight was synthesized from acrylic acid monomer using ammonium persulfate as redox initator,sodium hydrogen sulfate as redox initator and chain transfer agent.The effects of amount of monomer, initator, chain transfer and reaction temperature on the molecular weight and dispersivity were examined. The reaction conditions were optimized as follows: based on 90 g acrylic acid monomer,the amounts of ammonium persulfate, sodium hydrogen sulfite, deionized water were 5 ,4 g, 270 mL at 70℃ for 3 hours of reaction time. The sodium polyacrylate prepared had better dispersivity than imported disperser determined by titanium oxide powder method.
