Application of Microemulsion in Washing Oil of Oil Sand

A new mebhod using microemulsion as oilgwashing reagent in oil sand was presented in view of usual exploitation method with much energy consuming and high production cost. The formation of alkylbenzene sulfonate (ABS) ,OP- 10 microemulsion system and the effects of alcohol, salt on the systems were investigated. The oil -washing ratio of microemulsion in oil sand and the adsorption of ABS in oilsand and clean sand were examined. The result showed that the middle phase microemulsion had the best oil washing ratio up to 88 .9% when the microemusion system contained ABS 3.76%, butanol 2.4%, NaCl 1.92 %, the volume ratio of oil to water 1:1. The increase of alcohol and salt in ABS microemulsion would lead to a continuous phase inversion from Winsor I to Winsor Ⅲ to Winsor Ⅱ . The optimum content of salt in the system was 1.92 % .
