Development of Delayed HPAM/Cr(Ⅲ) Profile Modification Agent and Its Gelling Mechanism

HPAM/Cr(Ⅲ) gel as delayed profile modification agent was developed from chromium acetate as crosslinker, lignosulphonate as delared thickener, and HPAM.The effects of various factors on the gelling propertry were examined and the optimum composition of profile modification agent was determined as follows: 0.3 %-0.6% compounded ionic HPAM (based on the total profile modification solution) ,0.12% - 0.20% chromium acetate, 0.53% -0.80% delayed - action activator,0.08% - 0.57% catalyst solution. The gel become strong enough in a controlled time of 3 - 15 days when pH was in the range of 3-11, temperature was 30 - 90℃, even in oilfield produced water.The agent was suitable for indepth permeability control at low cost.
