Optimization of Reaction Conditions for Photocatalytic Degradation of Methyl Orange by PMoV/TiO_2 and Study of Its Kinetics

Degradation of methyl orange solution was photocatalyzed by PMoV/TiO_2 as photocatalyst prepared by sol-gel method.The effects of dosage of catalyst and oxidant,light intensity,and concentration of methyl orange dye solution on the degradation were examined.The result showed that the decolorizing efficiency of methyl orange dye solution was up to 90.79%under the conditions as follows:initial concentration of methyl orange dye solution 6 mg/L,dosage of catalyst PMoV/TiO_20.12 g,volume of hydroperoxide as oxidant 8 mL at sunlight.The kinetics of the photocatalytic degradation was finally studied.
