Treatment of Methyl Orange Dyestuff-containing Wastewater with Modified Bentonite

Methyl orange was treated with different calcium base bentonites and the treating efficiencies were examined.The result showed that the best adsorption capability was achieved by Fe~(3+) modified bentonite, whose methyl orange removal rate was 92%.Meanwhile the treating efficiencies were also affected by the amount of bentonite,time of oscillation and pH of solution.Under the conditions of pH 7.0 and reaction time 15 minutes,dosage of modified bentonite added 0.75 g/90 mL,the removal rate of methyl orange could be up to 96.05%.
