A Comparative Study of Citizenship Education and Curriculum Development between England and America

Zhejiang Normal Univercity;  
In recent years, citizenship education has gained widely attention around the world. During this progress, England and America is relatively representative for the backgrounds, objects, contents, implementing and evaluation of citizenship education curriculum. Through comparison, there are several critical factors of development of effective citizenship education curriculum: guided by government with specific goals, integrate content of curriculum and consummate curriculum evaluation, and adequate education funding and qualified teaching staff.
