Age and Age-related Factors in Second Language Acquisition
There is always controversy over age and age-related factors in second language acquisition (SLA) among linguistic educators, researchers and even laypersons. Research has revealed a great deal of diversity of assumptions and hypotheses, some studies favoring the superiority of children learners and others preferring adults. In this paper we will discuss the research findings and variables posited to have some bearing on SLA. In the conclusion, the possible implications of these findings and their pedagogical applications are discussed in light of previous research.
