Experimental study on seismic performance of the short-pier shear wall(SPW) with rectangular section

In order to investigate the seismic performance of rectangular SPW,six models of different axial compression ratios(0.3、0.5 and 0.7)and three models of different reinforcement layout pattern of the rectangular SPW and a set of test facility are designed and the models are tested under quasi-static,reversed cyclic horizontal loads.Based on the experimental results,seismic performance of the rectangular SPW such as failure pattern,failure mechanism,characteristic loads,ductility,rigidity degeneration and energy dissipation etc.were investigated.The results show that axial compression ratio has an obvious effect on seismic behavior of the rectangular SPW,with the increase in axial compression ratio,the model reflected obviously brittle failure characteristics.The rectangular SPW with crossed reinforcing bars has the characteristics of even crack distribution,higher bearing capacity and large ductility.The paper proposes that the concealed column and crossed reinforcing bars should be planted at the rectangular SPW,and the limit value of axial compression ratio should be strictly controlled.
