The Effect of Zinc Pretreatment on the Distribution of Zinc in Spinal Cords of Mice in the Capsaicin-induced Pain Model

Objective To observe the effect of zinc pretreatment on the distribution of zinc ions in spinal cords of mice in the capsaicin-induced pain model.Methods The C57/BL6 mice were pretreated with high level or low level of zinc ions for two weeks.Then capsaicin was injected into the foot sole to build a neuropathic pain(NPP) model of the mice.The change of distribution of zinc in the posterior horn of spinal cord of mice was examined by atomic absorption spectrum,the autometallography technology and graphical analysis.Results After injecting capsaicin,the content of zinc in spinal cords of the normally fed mice decreased and the absorbance of zinc ions increased(P0.01).Among mice pretreated with high level of zinc,the zinc ions in spinal cords increased and the absorbance of zinc ions decreased.While among mice pretreated with low level of zinc,the lack of zinc in spinal cord became more severe,and the absorbance of zinc ions increased(P0.01).Conclusion In the NPP model,the zinc in the spinal cords of mice decreased evidently.The distribution of zinc in the superficial layer of the posterior horn of spinal cord can be modified by zinc pretreatment.
