Some Issues on the Attendant Pits of the Han Tomb at Shanwang Village in Linzi,Shandong

Xu Longguo;
By analyzing the number of attendant pits and their contents, and the assemblages of the pottery figurines and architectural models unearthed from them, it can be confirmed that the date of the attendant pits of the Han tomb at Shanwang Village in Linzi District, Zibo City, Shandong can be as early as before the mid Western Han Dynasty, and its occupant would be one of the three feudatory kings after the "Revolt of the Seven Kingdoms", and very probably Liu Shou, the King Yi(posthumous name) of Qi. The so-called "figurines of warriors and horses" in the figurine pits would be the armed forces showing the honor and status of the feudatory kings and guarding their families. The three-dimensional figures displayed in this pit could be regarded as one of the early origins of the murals and pictorial stones in the burials since the late Western Han Dynasty.
