NOVAJ GENRO KAJ SPECIO DE LA SUBFAMILIO GIGASJAPYGINAE A NEW GENUS AND SPECIES OF THE SUBFAMILY GIGASJAPYGINAE(Diplura:Japygidae)

The present paper reports a species of Gigasjapyginae from Xiangcheng, Sichuan Province, China, which was collected by the Hengduan Mountains Corps of Academia Sinica during the summer of 1982. This species is the islargest one in all known species of Diplura so far. The genus and species considered as new to science. Descriptions of the new genus and species are briefly given below.The types are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Academia Sinica.Atlasjapyx Chou et Huang, gen. nov.Antennae without sensory hair. Mandibles strong, with 4 teeth, not expanded in front. Maxillae with 5 internal comblobes as figured. Labium with labial palpi. Thorax with 3 pairs of spiraculae, tarsus with 2 lateral claws and 1 median claw. Cerci long, subequal to segment X in length, internal margin with 1 large tooth and several little teeth.Atlasjapyx gen. nov. similar to Gigasjapyx Chou 1984 but larger in size, and may be distinguished by the mandibles with 4 teeth, thorax with 3 pairs of spiraculae, and sparse hairs .Type species, Atlasjapyx atlas Chou et Huang, sp. nov. Atlasjapyx atlas Chou et Huang, sp. nov.Larg species, length of body 38.32-58.55mm, greatest width 5.72-8.64 mm. Head and legs yellow, dorsum of thorax and abdominal segments Ⅰ-Ⅶ gray, venter of thorax and abdominal segments Ⅰ-Ⅶ yellow, abdominal segments Ⅷ-Ⅸ russet, segment Ⅹ and cerci brown.Head: Trapezoid, narrowed anteriorly, 3.76mm in length and 3.87mm in width, CR=0.97, hairs sparse. Antennae 48-49 segments, without sensory hair. Mandibles strong, with 4 teeth.Thorax: Pronotum 1.70mm in length and 2.47mm in width, PR=0.69, with about 10 long setae on each side, TR= 1.23, u : d : u= 1 : 0.34 : 1.16.Abdomen: Terga nudus, Posterolateral of Ⅰ-Ⅶ sterna with 1-2 hairs. Length of Ⅹ segment 4.35mm, width 4.77mm, XR = 0.92. Ⅹ segment nudus, occasionally with a few hairs on posterior part. Cerci 5.23 mm in length, XC = 0.86,inner margin armed with 1 large dens just at the 1/2,between it and the base with small dentes, right arm also with 1 large dens at middle, chae-totoxy as Figs.Holotype. Sichuan (Xiangcheng County) 2700m, China, 27-Ⅵ-1982, collected by Wang Shuyong.Paratypes: 7 specimens (locality and date collected see holotype) , collected by Wang Shuyong and Zhang Xuezhong.
