CALCITE DEPOSITS AND THEIR INDUSTRIAL UTILIZATION

Liao Xiling (Yichang Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources,CAGS Yichang 443003)  
Calcite deposits mainly occur in the carbonatite area and the meta morphosed contact zone around the intrusive rocks. The calcite deposits are derived from the recrystallization of the carbonatite as a result of the weathering, eluviation of the fault, and the thermal contact activity and the metamorphism. The calcite deposits are characterized by pure white,big size and dense structure which are widespreadly utilized in the chemical industry, architectural decoration and craft carving.
