A Brief Report of Excavation of Zhengzemao Site in Fugu County,Shaanxi

Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology Cultural Relics Administration Committee of Yulin District  
Zhengzemao Site is situ ated at the mound near the juncture of Husan valley and Mugua valley,wh ich is to the west of Wenlihe village in Fugu county and 7.5km east from the county town.In the early half of 1992,a 250m2 area of the Site was excavated.Based on the stratum and characteristics,the cultural remains is divided into three stages. The first stage belongs to the 3rd stage of Asan Culture,equivalent to the early stage of Miaodigou Ⅱ Culture in age.The Second stage with the same nature and age as that of the 3rd stage of Taigu-Baiyan belongs to the late period of Longshan Culture,The 3rd stage is of East-Zhou dynasty,equivalent to the late period of Spring-autumn in age.It is for the first time that all the three stage remains have been found in the east of Maowusu desert region,and provide valuable information for the research on the ancient culture of North Shaanxi
