Thoughts on Earthquake Monitoring and Forecasting in the Age of Big Data

At present, domestic and foreign researchers are not fully understood the data interpretation and model monitoring of earthquakes, and their monitoring and forecasting is still not accurate and timely. In the era of small data, earthquake researchers have obtained a large amount of seismic data through network and information technology.However, due to the limitation of data processing capabilities, there are sciences doubt in earthquake monitoring and forecasting based on mathematical analysis models established on isolated samples and hypotheses. As a data processing and analysis technology, big data can analyze multi-samples with a large amount of data, and improve the scientific and accuracy of earthquake monitoring and forecasting. This paper introduces the characteristics and functions of big data and its impact on earthquake monitoring and forecasting, and briefly analyzed monitoring and forecasting of earthquakes in the era of big data from three aspects : seismic monitoring and forecasting management mechanism innovation, data analysis professional talent training and historical data mining.
