Treatment of Class Ⅱ~1 malocclusion with Alexander′s vari-simplex discipline

Objective To determine the effects of the class Ⅱ 1 malocclusion treated with Alexander′s Vari simplex discipline. Method Eight class Ⅱ 1 patients with increased overjet and crowding were treated by extraction of 2 upper first and 2 lower second premolars. All patients were treated with Alexander appliance. Results The mean reduction in UI to NA angle was 12.3 degrees and in LI to NB angle was 4.5 degrees. Class Ⅰ molar relationship, normal overjet and overbite were achieved. Conclusion Vari simplex discipline simplified the treatment procedure and excellent results could be achieved with the technique.
