Treatment changes of bimaxillary protrusion with Straight Wire Appliance

Objective To observe the results of treatment with Straight Wire Appliance(SWA) in bimavillary alarch protrusion cases. Method Sixteen bimaxillary protrusion cases with removal of four first premolars were chosen. The cases were treated with SWA. Cephalometrics before treatment and after treatment were performed. The changes of soft and hard tissue were compared by paired t test. Results The distance of upper incisor to NA reduced 5.25mm on average. The disance of lower inciser to NB reduced 4.94mm . The angle of upper and low incisor increase 20.63° . The angle of nose and upper lip increased 12.81° . Conclusion The effect of SWA is similar to other orthodontic appliances in treatment of bimaxillary protrusion.
