HREM OBSERVATIONS OF PYROXENES IN METAMORPHIC ROCKS FROM LAIHE

The microstructures of pyroxenes occurring in metamorphic rocks were investigated by HREM. The 2n×0.9nm width of clinopyroxene shows the characteristic feature of transformation from orthopyroxene. Various domain structures including(001)90° and 180° domains in orthopyroxenes imply that the massif was under steady tectonic compression during its formation. According to the experiments by Raleigh(1967), the transformation among different SiO_3 chains should be completed at low temperature(700℃).
