Fan Jingping Lu Shuchang Liao Jianshun et al (Otolaryngology Department,Changzheng Hospital,Shanghai ,200003)
One hundred and sixty cases of functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) were analyzed. 103 cases were treated by FESS for recurrent sinusitis .49,for nasal polyp, and 8,for sinus cyst. All patients were followed up for half to one year. For the recurrent sinusitis, 60. 07% were cured.and 30. 09% were relieved appareatly. All the patients with nasal polyp gained normal nasal breath, but 10. 20% were recurrent. And all the patients with sinus cyst were cured. It is a principle to remain the middle turbinate in the FESS. But.it is no use to remain the middle turbinate when the pathological change of the ethmoid is severe ,and there is the pneumatizal middle turbinet with abcess and /or polyp.
