Clinopathological Studying in 21 Cases of Pulmonary Carcinosarcomas

Carcinosarcoma is a kind of Tumor from the mixture of malignat epithelial and mesenchymal component. Primary pulmonary carcinosarcoma occurs scarecely. 21 cases of primary carcinosarcoma of lung from 1975 to 1995 in our hospital were reported, with clin-ipathological studying. Most of patients are older man,and no cases appear to have been reported in children. The upper lobes were frequently involved. The central tumors occured slightly more than the peripheral ones. The clinical symptoms of the disease were usually appeared laterly. most patients had metastasis when diagnosed exactly. Spread is initially to hilarlymph nodes,and the tumor may grow through the pleura into the chest wall or penetrate the mediastinum. Prognosis of most cases were poor after operation.Microscopically, most of the epithelial component was squamous carcinoma, then adeno-carcinoma and small cell carcinoma, the majority of stroma elements was fibrosarcoma.
