Stress analysis of abutment and its surface supporting tissues with three different removable partial dentures

GUO Li,LI Wen-hui,MENG Hui-ping,REN Xiao-hua.Stomatological Department of Guangzhou Air Force Hospital,Guangzhou 510602,China
Objective:Compare the stress of abutment and its surface supporting tissues with forging clasp or with casting clasp or with elastic clasp retained both extention removable partial dentures(RPD).Method:A fresh human corpse mandibular with both side molar missed was chosen for the test models.Three different retained RPD were respectively manufactured . The vertical static loading were exerted on the mandibular teeth with the different retained RPD.The surface stress of different site were measured.Rusult:There was not remarkable significance to three retained RPD on the root surface supporting tissues of abutment, but there was remarkable significance on the cerical tissues of abutments and supporting tissues of alveolar bone(P0.05).Conclusion:Under the same loading, the casting clasp was made the largest stress distribution on the cervical tissue of abutment, but on the supporting tissue of alveolar bone, the elastic clasp was made the largest stress.
