To evaluate the cytotoxicity of colored wire and bracket by two methods

Objective:To evaluate the cytotoxicity of a new kind of orthodontic wire and bracket in vitro.Method:Cytotoxicity of colored and unstained orthodontic bracket and wire against human gingival fibroblast(HGF)was investigated with MTT assays and the cell DNA proliferation index(PI) of cell groups was assessed through flow cytometry.Result:According to MTT assay, the cells in two infusion which has different concentrations respectively multiplicate greatly and toxicity ranges from 0～1.As the FCM methods appeared ,there is no significant difference (p0.05)between the colored and the unstained bracket and wire for the PI, but the colored is slighter high than the unstained. Conclusion:The colored bracket and wire have good biocompatibility. There is no significant difference between the colored and the unstained for cytotoxicity.
