objective:To study on the influence of emotion stress on energy metabolism of the masseter muscle in rats.Method:72Wistar rats were randomly divided into emotion stress(ES) group 24 rats and control groups 24 rats, the other 24 rats received footshock and were regarded as the stressor, but they were not be handled. The ES group rats were also divided intoⅠ(one week emotion stress )8 rats,Ⅱ(three weeks emotion stress)8 rats,Ⅲ(five weeks emotion stress) 8 rats. All the rats were placed in the communication box and bred under the same conditions during the experiment time. Then the emotional stress rats and control group rats were executed and sampled at one week time, three weeks time and five weeks time .after that,Activities of Na+-K+ATPase ,Ca2+-ATPase,Lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) and the contents of Lactic Acid(LD) were measured.Result:compared with the control group, Activities of Na+-K+ATPase ,Ca2+-ATPase of masseter muscle in emotion stress rats decreased significantly(p0.01)when the time continued, while activities of Lactate dehydroge-nase and the contents of Lactic Acid increased the significantly(p0.01).Conclusion:It is suggested that long-term emotion stress can resulted in obvious changes of energy metabolism of masseter muscle in rats which could be an important reason for the change of ultrastructure of masseter muscle ,And it also can be the etiological factor of masticatory muscles dysfunction(MMD).
