Objective:To investigate the significance of matrix metalloproteinase-9 expression in human oral carcinogenesis and precancerous lesion.Method:In situ hybridization was used to detect the expression of MMP-9 mRNA in 42 oral carcinogenesis,20 metastatic lymph nodes, 22 precancerous lesion and 21 normal oral mucosa tissues.Result:The positive rate of MMP-9 in metastatic lymph node, carcinoma, precancerous lesion and normal oral mucosa tissue was 100%, 73.81%, 22.73%, 9.52% respectnely. Conclusion:The overexpression of MMP-9 was significantly correlated with invasion and lymph node metastasis of oral carcinoma.
