Effect of different treatments on root canal wall on bonding strengths of resin-modified glass ionomer cement to root canal dentin

Objective:To evaluate the effect of different treatments on root canal wall on bonding strengths of resin-modified glass ionomer cement to root canal dentin.Method:42 fresh integrity anterior teeth or premolar teeth with a single root canal were extracted and sectioned at enamelo-cemental junction level.After root canal preparation all roots were di-vided into 7 groups at random.Each group was treated with different treatments on root canal wall and the fiber posts were bonded with different materials(A:without etching+ GC FujiⅠ;B:etching+ GC FujiⅠ;C:etching+ single bond2+ GC FujiⅠ;D:without etching+ GC Fuji Ⅱ LC;E:etching + GC Fuji Ⅱ LC;F:etching+ single bond2 + GC Fuji Ⅱ LC;G:etching+ single bond2 + Clearfil DC Core).All roots with cemented posts were cut into 1-mm-thick sections perpendicu-lar to the long-axis of the roots.Push-out tests were performed with a universal testing machine.Result:Mean bond strengths were:A(1.6367±0.2673)MPa;B(1.9933±0.1906)MPa;C(2.4800±0.5349)MPa ;D(3.1967±0.7068)MPa;E(3.9385±0.2782)MPa;F(5.5317±0.5545)MPa;G(8.2510±0.7757)MPa.The bonding strengths of group D、E、F which were bonded with Fuji Ⅱ LC were significantly higher than that of group A、B、C correspondingly which were bonded with Fuji Ⅰ,but they were all lower than that of group G(P0.05);There were significant difference in group D、E、F(P0.05),but not in group A、B、C(P0.05).Conclusion:Different treatments on the root canal wall affected the bonding strengths of resin-modified glass ionomer cement to root canal dentin.
