Objective:To study long-term stability of alveolar crest height and root resorption after closing mandibu-lar first molar space.Method:37 mandibular first molar spaces and 74 roots’ crown-root ratio of mandibular second molars were observed. The height of alveolar crest and crown-root ratio were analyzed with paired-t tests.Result:The alveolar crest height and root resorption has no significant difference between follow-up and after treatment. Conclusion:The method of mesio-translation of lower second molar couldn't aggravate alveolar crest and root resorption. It can protect periodontal tissue and fully elaborate chewing function of second molar.
