Objective:To investigate the relationship between trigeminal branches and intraprocedural pain during treatment of primary trigeminal neuralgia with radiofrequency thermocoagulation. Method:Eighty-nine patients with PTN treated by radiofrequency. According to the local of lesion, patients were categorized into group 1(maxillary nerve) and group 2(mandibular nerve. intraprocedural pain in treatment of radiofrequency thermocoagulation was valued by using visual analog scale(VAS). The following data was recorded. Result:All patients were thrapyed ideadly. The VAS score of group 1was 7(5~9),The VAS score of group 2 was 5(3~8).The relative VAS in group 1was much higher than that in group 2.There was significant difference between the two groups. Conclusion:Lesion of maxillary nerve would cause more severe pain in radiofrequency thermocoagulation.
